we love working with humans of all sorts as each injury, setback, pain point, or whatever you want to call it, has a story to tell and we want to hear it. so, it doesn't really matter if you're an amateur, expert, just starting out, young, experienced, blue, purple, or green. we got you covered. for us, it's more about how you deal with things when faced with adversity or when sh*t gets a bit tough.
specifically, we care about your mindset which directly affects your behaviour in every part of your life, including your rehab, fitness, and long-term health.
do you have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset? do you tend to fall back on 'this is too hard, I give up' or are you more the 'I can't do this...yet' type?
in terms of your rehab, a fixed mindset puts you in a mental space where you can’t see how you're going to improve. maybe you've been told by a health professional that you shouldn't do movement X because you have injury Y. Or perhaps you tell yourself that you aren’t a swimmer anymore as you won’t ever be as good as you were before, so you avoid any and all fitness that involves swimming.
health, fitness, and rehab isn't fixed, but your mindset could be. while you may not feel strong, coordinated, or “in shape” now, your current fitness or capabilities are by no means cemented for the rest of your life.
fixed and growth mindsets sit on opposite ends of a mindset scale. when you start taking ownership of developing your skills and abilities, not only do you become more independent and able to do all the things you want and love to do, but it also shows that you have adopted more of a growth mindset.
does this sound like you or something that resonates with you? if so, hit us up and let's get to work.
when we tackle difficult tasks, we stretch ourselves past our current capabilities and create new neural pathways in our brains. by embracing challenges, we become more resilient and better equipped to face future difficulties.
rehab can be messy and progress is not always linear. you will no doubt hit a roadblock. and when you do, we will need to adapt, adjust, and perhaps regress before moving forward again. It's all part of the long-term healing process.
be inspired by others who've been where you are. give yourself some credit. showing up is half the battle, so don't discount your wins. give yourself a pat on the back - even if it's still a little sore.
“some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."
